Forgotten Heroes is a documentary animation about WW2 done for Channel NewsAsia in collaboration with Robot Playground Media.

I always like Fan Ho’s photos, his dramatic use of light and dark with strong graphic shapes. When the studio showed me their art direction, I thought this is a good chance to deep dive into Fan Ho’s creative image making.

I took the inspiration, design key frames, create 2D animation assets and background.

Some of the shots uses 3D assets where I’d light and render them, the sea is simulated in 3D too. Blender, Zbrush and Photoshop was used here.
