Fantastic Fables- Merlion Hunt

This was a really fun 2D project in collaboration with Sproud and A Good Citizen . I art direct the look of the film, in charge of storyboards, layout and lead a small art team to create animation assets. I was also the main background artist. Director Koh Chong Wu was open to my proposal on trying unconventional look of the film, thanks to his trust and faith!

Due to limited time and resources, my goal is to come up with a visual style that is achievable within the given timeframe - yet doesn’t sacrifice aesthetic quality.

The backgrounds was drawn traditionally with graphite, playing with its textures to invoke an aged, abandoned world,
juxtapose with characters from the future- digitally created, emphasising on graphic shapes and simplicity.
